Status of Construction

Present Status

What may be seen today on the site of the Khalsa Heritage Complex is the bare structure of this vision — an edifice under construction. Once complete this Museum will probably be the world’s largest cultural and historical museum dedicated to a single community.

The reinforced cement concrete work is already over in whole of the complex. The finishing works are in progress as on date

Contractors

M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India’s foremost construction company, are the contractors for the project.

A double storey reference library to stock books, archival and resource material for in-depth study and research work on history and theology, film and video and musical rendering of sacred hymns contained in Guru Granth.

Changing Exhibit Gallery

Heritage Building

High walled heritage building with a ramp to walk while looking at the heritage panorama projection through most modern state-of-the-art multimedia techniques.

Media Exhibit building

Media Exhibit building with five petal flowered roofs. The building has halls and galleries on two floors to describe and depict the event of history.

Permanent Exhibit building

Permanent Exhibit building with sloping roofs. The building has large halls and galleries where exhibits shall be shown with latest multimedia techniques. The highest point is approx. 46m (151 feet) above the adjoining water body level giving the effect of a fort emanating from a sandcliff.

Landscaping

Landscaping in an area of 40 acres in the vicinity of the complex shall be carried out.

Total complex cost                                          =  Rs. 157.93 crores
