An Appeal from Capt. Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister, Punjab
Piare Viro aur Bhaino,

To commemorate 300 years of the creation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh and to further propagate His message of equality and universal brotherhood, the Government of Punjab has undertaken to set up the “Khalsa Heritage Complex” at Anandpur Sahib. This unparalleled and unique museum will depict and describe the saga of struggle and valour, courage and sacrifice and is the first ever effort to project the history and heritage of Sikhs to the world outside. The prestigious National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad had been entrusted the work relating to depicting and describing the 500 years of Punjab’s history and heritage. This will be achieved by extensive use of high-tech graphics, computer multimedia and laser technology which would provide a virtual reality and walk-through experience to visitors.
The architectural designs of this great marvel have been prepared by Moshe Safdie, world renowned architect based at Boston, USA. The construction work has already started and has been contracted to M/s Larsen & Toubro, a premier construction agency in India.
The cost of this ambitious project is estimated at Rs. 210.00 crores and it is scheduled for completion by September 2004 to coincide with the 400th year of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib in the Golden Temple, Amritsar. A sum of Rs. 55.00 crores has been spent so far on the project and the core structure has already come up. However, the pace of execution of the project has slowed down on account of severe financial constraints that the Government of Punjab faces today.
In the confidence that all members of the Sikh diaspora and Punjabi NRIs spread all over the world would be anxious to participate in the completion of this project, I appeal to you all to mobilize resources and contribute generously towards this noble cause. We have a great tradition of “Kar Sewa” whereby the Sangat contributes to the construction of a religious project for the entire community. Those who make handsome contributions for this sacred cause will be suitably honoured and treated as “Life Patrons” of the Khalsa Heritage Project. Their names will be appropriately recorded in the Complex.

For contributing for this noble cause, kindly send your draft/cheque to the following address: -
